Mercedes Benz Classic Car Rally 2022 to be held on November 19, 20 in Mumbai

India’s most prestigious classic car rally is back, and it will be a two-day affair.

The ninth edition of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Rally (MBCCR) will be held on November 19 and 20 at the Taj Lands End in Bandra, Mumbai. The blue-riband event, which is among the most prestigious of its kind in the world, was first held in 2014 and has since then catalysed interest and engagement with classic Mercedes automobiles among collectors across the country.

This year’s edition of the MBCCR will revert to the original 2014 format of a two-day event. First organised by Autocar India in 2014, the MBCCR will, as always, present a sparkling array of Mercedes-Benz models from various decades. They will also be accompanied by rare models such as the Adenauer limousines in at least two variants, the 170V range and a bevy of S-Class coupes. The event will also see some modern classics such as the SLS Gullwing, Roadster and every classic generation of the SL.

The MBCCR 2022 will also have all seven generations of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class on display, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the car that shaped the future of the automobile. Giving them company will be the entire line-up of the C-Class, from the W201 to the W206. “These line-ups will include every production model of the S-Class and C-Class, as we believe every Mercedes-Benz is destined to be a classic,” said Perseus Bandrawalla, curator of the MBCCR.

While this year’s event will have a carefully curated list of entries, it will be open to auto enthusiasts on the second day. Participants will drive their cars in a convoy along some of Mumbai’s most iconic landmarks. MBCCR 2022 will see participants from several parts of the country, including Gujarat, Goa, and Tamil Nadu. With consistent and growing participation from owners and collectors, the MBCCR has put India on the global classic car enthusiasts’ map. Stay tuned for more updates.
