The Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has been updated for 2021 bringing with it improved ride comfort, a wider equipment range and a customised edition.

  • Gets tweaked suspension including a reconfiguration of AMG’s Ride Control+
  • Exterior changes include new colours and wheel designs
  • Buyers can opt to have the car’s looks adapted to look like V8-powered variants
  • Mercedes to announce updates to the V8 GT 63 4-Door models later in the year

AMG boss Philipp Schiemer said, “We constantly maintain our AMG GT 4-Door Coupé at an outstanding technical level. With the current update and the exclusive edition, we’re reaching out to the target groups that place the greatest value on individuality and an expressive lifestyle.

“We continue to develop our profile as a ‘performance luxury’ brand and go on to substantiate this with tailor-made products and options,” he added.

Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe: What are the changes?

The most obvious changes for the standard car include an updated selection of wheels and new upholstery, trim, exterior colours and retuned suspension for improved ride comfort.

The changes include a reconfiguration of AMG’s Ride Control+ suspension set-up. The damping can be electronically adjusted via variable control valves, which the German firm says can be adapted to improve comfort or sporting dynamics.

The steering wheel has also been updated, gaining a ‘hands-on’ sensor that activates the emergency braking assistance function if the driver becomes unresponsive or inactive. The updated models also get Mercedes’ Widescreen Cockpit with dual displays for the instrumentation and touchscreen as standard along with updated driver assistance systems.

Also new to the line-up is an exclusive edition model geared towards luxury and comfort. It’s available for all engine options and gets the V8 styling package, Rubellite Red exterior paint, high-gloss chrome and new 21-inch wheels.

The exterior styling of the GT 4-Door Coupé remains unchanged, although customers can now choose to adapt the look of the front of the car to that of the eight-cylinder models. Three new exterior colours have been added to all models: Spectral Blue metallic, Spectral Blue matt and Cashmere White matt.

The changes for now are limited to 3.0-litre six-cylinder variants.

Mercedes launches for India

Starting with the car in question, Mercedes offers the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe in India in its range-topping 63 S spec powered by a 639hp twin-turbo V8 engine. For now, Mercedes has not revealed any changes globally to its V8-powered GT 4-Door Coupe range though an updated version is expected to be revealed later this year with a raft of visual and dynamic tweaks and an 811hp GT 73e plug-in hybrid model. We can expect the facelifted model to arrive in India soon after its global debut.

Mercedes’ next launch in India though is set to be the all-new S-class which will launch in India on June 17 with the carmaker having recently introduced the Maybach GLS SUV. Also on the cards for India is the full blown Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
