∙ Audi e-tron to be offered in three variants in India

∙ Two battery sizes to be on offer – 71kW and 95kW

∙ e-tron 50 puts out 313hp/540Nm; e-tron 55 produces 408hp/664Nm

Audi e-tron: Bodystyle, variants and options

Audi will introduce the e-tron range in India with two bodystyle options, the standard e-tron SUV and the e-tron Sportback. The standard SUV will be available with the e-tron 50 and the e-tron 55 variants while the Sportback will come with just one variant, the e-tron Sportback 55.

In terms of standard equipment, all variants get Matrix LED headlamps, progressive steering, adaptive air suspension and a 4-zone climate control.

Additionally, features like a panoramic sunroof, single colour ambient lighting, Audi’s ‘virtual cockpit’ digital dials, wireless charger, leatherette upholstery, powered front seats with memory, 20-inch alloys, aluminum roof rails, 8 airbags and front and rear parking sensors are also on offer.

The standard e-tron gets 8 colour options – Catalunya Red, Floret Silver, Galaxy Blue, Glacier White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Siam Beige and Typhoon Grey. The e-tron Sportback meanwhile, gets all the 8 aforementioned colour options along with an additional Plasma Blue option. Audi is also offering three interior upholstery options with the e-tron – Mother of Pearl Beige, Okapi Brown and Black.

Audi e-tron: Optional equipment with pricing

The Audi e-tron will also be available with a whole host of optional equipment, albeit only on the higher 55 variants. The most prominent option is the Technology Package, which includes Digital Matrix LED headlamps with the follow-me-home animation projections, 30 colour ambient and contour lighting package, an air quality package, a 705-watt, 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen Premium 3D sound system and a 360-degree camera.

Other options include soft-close doors, a heads-up display, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus, adaptive windshield wipers, interior trim in wood ash grain Volcano Grey, interior trim in natural Walnut, a black styling package with black roof rails and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

Audi e-tron: Powertrain details

Both versions of the e-tron use two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear. The entry-level e-tron 50 puts out 313hp and 540Nm of torque, which is enough to complete the 0-100kph dash in a claimed 6.8seconds. The 50 draws power from a 71kW battery and has a range of 264-379 km (WLTP combined).

The higher-spec e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 produce 408hp and 664Nm of torque and do 0-100kph in a claimed 5.7seconds. Both variants draw power from a larger 95kW battery and have a range of 359-484 km (WLTP combined). Power is channelled to all four wheels via the e-quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. All e-trons will come with a 11kW AC Home Charger and will be capable of up to 150 kW DC fast charging.

Audi e-tron: rivals and expected price

Once launched, the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace in India. Considering the Audi SUVs will be CBU models, they will be expensive. Audi is expected to price the e-tron over the Rs 1 crore mark (ex-showroom, India), with the Sportback version being slightly more expensive still.
