United States’s auto industry IT recruitment activity drops 5.5% in May 2022

The US’s auto industry registered a 5.5% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.84% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.34% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.9% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60.51% in May 2022, registering a 12.2% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 13.76% share, a decrease of 5.85% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 11.03%, registering a flat growth from April 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.15%, down 8.86% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 2.95% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Dana posted 165 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 13.61% over the previous month, followed by Ford Motor with 122 jobs and a 12.23% drop. Advance Auto Parts with 105 IT jobs and Tesla with 98 jobs, recorded a 123.4% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while PACCAR recorded an increase of 1.49% with 68 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.44%, up by 8.65% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.91% share, registered a decline of 8.84% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.65% share, up 26.5% over April 2022.
