Top-spec Citroen eC3 Shine launched at Rs 13.20 lakh

New top-spec variant gets more kit; available with Vibe pack and dual tone finishes.

Citroen has finally added a new top-spec variant to its eC3 line-up. The eC3 is essentially an all-electric iteration of the C3 hatchback and is currently the most popular of all Citroen models sold in India. The new eC3 Shine variant is priced from Rs 13.20 lakh-13.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The eC3 faces stiff competition from the Tata Tiago EV, which is also positioned at a similar price point.

  1. New eC3 Shine gets more equipment inside
  2. Variant also features some exterior changes
  3. eC3 now more expensive than Tiago EV

Citroen eC3 Shine: what’s new?

The eC3 shine gets additional features like electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a rear parking camera and 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It also gets front and rear faux skid plates and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. These features build up on the 10.2-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speaker audio system and height adjustable driver’s seat that are available on the eC3 Feel variant. Like the Feel trim, the Shine also is available with the Vibe Pack, and dual-tone exterior finishes.

While these feature additions do make the eC3 more competitive, its direct rival, the top-spec Tiago EV, which is priced lower than the eC3 at Rs 12.04 lakh (ex-showroom, India), gets cruise control, rain sensing wipers, a power tailgate, a cooled glove box and an auto-dimming IRVM.

Citroen eC3 electric: warranty details

The French automaker is offering a 7 year/1,40,000km warranty on the battery pack, a 5 year/1,00,000km warranty on the electric motor and a 3 year/1,25,000km warranty on the electric hatchback itself. Citroen is offering a few extended warranty options on the car, electric motor and the battery.

The eC3 is priced at a premium over the Tata Tiago EV and it will be interesting to see how the market reacts. The eC3 is larger and technically sits in a sub-segment higher. It also has a few advantages in terms of having a larger and nicer touchscreen. However, the Tiago EV also seats five and has a far better spec sheet, with a lower price range of Rs 8.69 lakh-Rs 12.04 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
