The HCVA looks to recruit a chief executive

A chief executive capable of lobbying the UK Government, managing policy and regulation and delivering on goals is being sought by the Historic and Classic Vehicle Alliance (HCVA), a trade association for businesses involved in classic car sales and repair.

“The board has decided the time is right to bring in a new chief executive to lead the future strategy and day-to-day activities of the HCVA,” said a spokesman.

“The recruitment process will commence shortly, and naturally we welcome candidate suggestions from the membership.”

The development comes as HCVA appoints a new chairman, Mark Roper, who is currently managing director of specialist insurance firm Hagerty International.

The HCVA said he brings a wealth of experience in leadership, driving growth and building membership and engagement.

Roper succeeds David Meek, a lifelong classic car enthusiast and property developer, who has stepped down after chairing the HCVA through “a fantastic year of growth and renewal,” the organisation said.

It added: “The board of directors thanks him for all he has brought to the organisation during his tenure. His own passion for classic cars has underpinned his hard work and determination to affect positive change over the past year and we collectively wish him well for his next endeavours.”

The HCVA looks to recruit a chief executiveSince its creation in 2021 the HCVA has been leading the debate around the issues the UK’s classic car industry faces, including the need for a skilled workforce, and sustainability of classic cars as the UK is driven towards clean air goals.

It has also provided a networking platform for businesses in the classic car sector to meet, learn from each other and do more business.

The not-for-profit organisation represents more than 100 SME trade members from the £18 billion sector which employs over 110,000 people.

The HCVA seeks to increase awareness and education of the sector’s economic and social benefits, to ensure those responsible for policy and regulation are challenged and held accountable, to promote sustainable innovation and technologies, and to ensure the HCVA member community is engaged and confident their voices will be heard.
