Tenere 700 Extreme more off-road focused, has 20mm more ground clearance, higher-spec suspension.
Just a few months after the Tenere World Rally was unveiled, Yamaha have further expanded the Tenere 700 lineup with this Extreme variant. The Extreme is the most hardcore and off-road focused variant of the Tenere 700 lineup, which is saying a lot.
- Fully adjustable KYB suspension at both ends
- Tallest seat height in the lineup at 910mm
- Maximum ground clearance at 260mm
Powering the Tenere 700 Extreme is the familiar liquid-cooled, 689cc, parallel-twin CP2 mill making the same 73.4hp and 68Nm as it does in the rest of the lineup. The fairly basic double-cradle, steel tube frame is also carried forward unchanged within which the engine is nestled is also carrie forward unchanged.
The KYB front fork has received special Kashima coating which Yamaha claims offers ‘smoother suspension action’ and is claimed to be even more durable. Just like the fork, even the KYB monoshock is fully adjustable. Reinforcing its off-road focus is the fact that the Tenere 700 Extreme is equipped from the factory with titanium footrests and a tall, beaky front fender.
At 910mm, the Tenere 700 Extreme has the tallest seat height in the lineup, and with 260mm of ground clearance, you should be able to scale pretty much any obstacle with relative ease. The 5-inch vertical TFT dash has 3 separate display themes and you can disable ABS by navigating the menus.
