Tata Safari diesel-auto now pricier by up to Rs 7,000

Prices for diesel-auto Tata Safari hiked by between Rs 2,000 and Rs 7,000.

Tata has hiked the prices for the automatic variants of the Safari by up to Rs 7,000. The automatic now ranges between Rs 17.84 lakh and Rs 23.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The prices for manual variants remain unchanged.

Tata Safari price hike: By how much?

While Tata has upped the prices for all automatic variants, it’s the Safari XTA+ that sees the largest jump at Rs 7,000. The XMA, which forms the entry point to the Safari automatic range, sees prices go up by Rs 3,000, while the XZA too is dearer by Rs 3,000.

The fully loaded XZA+ models, including the Adventure Persona and the Gold Editions, are now dearer by a paltry Rs 2,000.

The price hike is not accompanied by any updates to the vehicle. As before, the Safari automatic is available with the 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

This is the second price adjustment to the Safari in recent months with Tata previously having revised prices of the SUV by up to Rs 12,000 in September. Tata had also introduced additional features across multiple variants back then.

Tata Safari: rivals in India

The Safari takes on the Hyundai Alcazar (Rs 16.30-20.15 lakh), MG Hector Plus (Rs 15.38-19.99 lakh), and the popular Mahindra XUV700 (Rs 12.49-22.99 lakh). In terms of pricing, the Safari sits on the higher side of the segment, with its fully loaded Gold Edition models priced above its rivals.
