The Nexon facelift to get an all-new digital driver’s display.
The Tata Nexon facelift has been spied testing yet again, and this new set of spy shots gives us a clearer look at its interior. The SUV is likely to be launched in August 2023.
The Nexon continues to make up the numbers for Tata Motors – in March 2023, with 14,000 units sold, it accounted for 33 percent of the brand’s overall sales figures. However, it’s been three years since the last update and the SUV is due for some upgrades.
- Features digital instrument cluster
- Could get the new 1.2-litre engine
- Likely to launch in July 2023
Tata Nexon facelift spied with new infotainment unit
The interior of the updated Nexon will borrow heavily from the Tata Curvv concept. The new spy shots show a flat-bottom steering wheel along with steering-mounted controls, however, the biggest talking points are the addition of a digital driver’s display and the 10.25-inch touchscreen. While this updated touchscreen debuted on the Nexon EV Max Dark edition recently, this is the first time we’ve seen the new instrument cluster on the SUV.
The Nexon facelift was previously spied on, although with a different centre console as that spy mule had a manual transmission. There are also rumours that Tata Nexon could use the in-house dual-clutch transmission, the DCA gearbox, which currently only features on the Tata Altroz.
Tata Nexon engine, performance
As with most facelifts, we can also expect a marginal bump in power on the Nexon. Tata could equip the Nexon facelift with the all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that was previewed at Auto Expo with the Curvv ICE concept. This 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine is a three-cylinder unit that produces 125hp at 5,000rpm and 225Nm of torque between 1,700 and 3,500rpm.
The current Nexon is sold with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 120hp and 170Nm of torque. The SUV will continue with 1.5-litre diesel as well, which churns out 115hp and 260Nm of torque.
Tata Nexon rivals
As mentioned above, the Nexon facelift will launch in August 2023, with production beginning a month before that. The SUV has plenty of rivals in this category, including the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300.
Maruti Suzuki has just launched the new Fronx at Rs 7.47 lakh, which could rival the Nexon, but we’ll have to wait and see.
