Tata Harrier SUV XMS, XMAS variants launched; here’s what they get

Based on XM and XMA, these new variants get some features from the higher ones. We tell you what they are.

Tata has launched two new variants for the Harrier, XMS and XMAS, based on the XM and XMA variants. Priced at Rs 17.20 lakh and 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom, mumbai) for the manual and automatic variants, respectively, they get a panoramic sunroof and other features from higher-end variants.

The XM and XMA variants are Rs 1.11 lakh cheaper than the XMS and XMAS variants, respectively.

Tata Harrier XMA, XMAS: new features

The new variants get a panoramic sunroof as standard, which was earlier only available with XT+, XTA+, XZ+, XZA+, XZS and XZAS variants. Over and above the XM and XMA variants, on which they are based, the new Harrier XMA and XMAS variants get automatic headlamps, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an 8-speaker system, rain-sensing wipers, electrically foldable outside rearview mirrors (ORVM) and a reverse parking camera. Surprisingly, the XMA and XMAS miss out on central locking, which is available on the variants they are based on.

Tata Harrier XMA, XMAS: powertrain

Under the skin, there are no updates to the new Harrier variants. They are still powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 170hp and 350Nm of torque. While the XMS variant gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, the XMAS variant gets a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
