Ford reportedly said it would halt delivery of some new Bronco SUVs because of a production problem.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) said this was a high-profile setback as the automaker tries to address nagging quality issues.

Ford told the WSJ it would replace the roofs on some of the SUVs it has produced so far because of a problem that affects appearance, though not functionality.

The repairs wouod cause a delay for customers who had ordered Broncos, which went on sale in June, a spokesman told the WSJ.

Ford said the moulded, hardtop roofs made by German supplier Webasto Group for some Broncos didn’t meet the automaker’s standards.

A Webasto spokesperson didn’t immediately return a WSJ request for comment.

Ford also makes a soft-top version of the Bronco it would continue to ship to customers, the spokesman told the paper.
