September 2022: Upcoming two-wheeler launches

0

From Hero to Moto Morini, here are the bikes launching this month.

August saw a lot of action in the two-wheeler space with a slew of new launches. That momentum is expected to continue this month too, and here’s a list of bikes expected to go on sale in September.

Hero Xpulse 200T 4V

Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch the Xpulse 200T 4V this month, and the updated bike is expected to get the same 4-valve engine that the standard Xpulse 200 recently received. The bike will also feature a few styling tweaks, like a small fly screen, new belly pan and a grab grail, and we can expect to see a set of new colours as well. The Xpulse 200T is expected to slot below the Xpulse 200 4V.

Kawasaki new bike

Kawasaki has sent us a block your date invite for a new motorcycle launch in the last week of September. There’s no clear indication of what this new motorcycle could be, but we suspect it may be the W175 that has been undergoing tests for a long time. If so, the W175 will be the most affordable Kawasaki to go on sale in India.

The W175 is a retro-styled motorcycle with fairly simple mechanicals. It uses a 177cc, two-valve, air-cooled SOHC engine. Performance figures are relatively humble at 13hp and 13.2Nm of torque, but the international model gets a carburetted engine. Kawasaki will be bringing this motor up to BS6-spec for India and fuel injection is almost certainly going to be added on, so the power figures could change a little. Sources tell us that Kawasaki is aiming for 90 percent localisation, and that may result in the bike sitting in the Rs 1.25 lakh-1.4 lakh price band.

Ultraviolette F77

The Ultraviolette F77 is finally expected to go on sale in the month of September. The bike has undergone a number of changes from when we rode the prototype over two years ago, and some of these changes include a different battery pack, better range and more. Expect the EV to be priced in the Rs 3 lakh-3.25 lakh (on road) price bracket.

Moto Morini

Italian motorcycle brand Moto Morini has confirmed its product line-up in India through its Indian partner Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), and will include four 650cc motorcycles – the X-Cape 650, X-Cape 650X, Seiemmezzo 6 ½ Retro Street and Scrambler. While the company hasn’t confirmed which one of these motorcycles is going to be on sale first, it could be any one or all of them.

The X-Cape line consists of Moto Morini’s adventure tourer motorcycles. Both the 650 and 650X, are powered by the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline twin engine that puts out 60hp at 8,250rpm and 54Nm at 7,000rpm through a 6-speed gearbox.
