Mahindra was set to introduce a new variant of the Scorpio Classic that sits between the Classic S and S11.
The Scorpio has been a workhorse in the Mahindra stable since its inception in 2002. The more recently updated Scorpio Classic has been in high demand since its launch last year, and as a result, the waiting periods have increased as well. As per the latest reports, the waiting periods go up to around 7 months for both variants of the Scorpio Classic, the S and the S11.

The prices for the Scorpio Classic starts from Rs 12.64 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.14 lakh. In November last year, Mahindra stated that it aimed to ramp up production to help reduce massive waiting periods for its various SUVs.

The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 132hp and 300Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the SUV misses out on an automatic gearbox and the 4×4 option that is available on the Scorpio N.
The Scorpio Classic prices start at Rs 12.99 lakh for the base S variant and Rs 16.81 lakh for the top-spec S11 variant. Both variants come in a variety of seating options with the Scorpio S getting a 7- and 9-seater option and the S11 exclusively in a 7-seater version. Although, the S11 gets the option for captain chairs whereas the S trim gets just side-facing chairs. There have been reports of Mahindra launching a new mid-spec variant, dubbed the S5, this year.
