Royal Enfield Interceptor, Continental GT 650: updates
A few months ago, we spotted a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 with alloy wheels and this confirmation from our dealer sources foreshadows the imminent arrival of the 650 twins with alloy wheels. That particular test mule also featured a round tail lamp to the current bike’s rectangular unit. The updated models are likely to launch within the next 6 to 8 weeks.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 have been popular models for the Chennai-based marque not just in its home market but also in overseas markets. The introduction of alloy wheels, and consequently tubeless tyres, on the 650 twins will make it significantly easier to fix a puncture as well as change the tyres, unlike on a bike with tubed tyres.
This update is also expected to bring with it OBD-2 compliance for the popular models, since the deadline to meet the norms, March 31, 2023, is less than 2 months away. Considering all that will change on the two bikes, it is safe to say that the prices will be bumped up slightly. Currently, the RE Interceptor 650 is priced between Rs 2.9 lakh and Rs 3.14 lakh, while the Continental GT 650 commands between Rs 3.05 lakh and Rs 3.31 lakh.
All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
