An introductory discount of Rs 10,000 is being offered on all variants for the first 1 week.

Ola Electric has launched the S1 X, its new entry-level offering, with prices starting from Rs 89,999 for the most affordable 2kWh variant. The standard S1 X sits in the middle of the lineup, gets a larger 3kWh battery, and costs Rs 99,999. At the top of the X range is the S1 X+, which gets additional connectivity features and costs Rs 1,09,999. All 3 versions are being offered with a Rs 10,000 discount for the first 1 week, until August 21.

  1. Claimed range of 151km on the 3kWh versions
  2. Top speed is a claimed 90kph
  3. LCD display in place of colour TFT on higher Ola models

Ola S1 X: performance and range

Ola says that the S1 X sports the same powertrain as the S1 Air, which means a hub motor rated for 4.5kW and a claimed top speed of 90kph. Acceleration claims are also the same as the S1 Air, which means 0-40kph in 3.3 seconds. All these figures pertain to the higher 2 versions of the S1 X, which get the 3kWh battery pack.

The base model with the 2kWh battery pack gets not only lesser range, but also lower performance levels, with a claimed 85kph top speed and a 0-40kph acceleration time of 4.1 seconds. Certified range for this entry-level version is 91km, while the same for the higher 2 variants is 151km (the same as the S1 Air).

Ola S1 X: underpinnings

Underpinnings are quite basic here, with pressed steel wheels and drum brakes at both ends. Suspension is handled by a telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers mounted to a double-sided swingarm at the rear. Since the S1 X is based on Ola’s new ‘Gen 2’ e-scooter platform, it also gets a flat floorboard thanks to the redesigned frame that has been used here.

Ola S1 X: features

The S1 X has many similarities to the S1 Air, but there are a few key differences that have allowed Ola to price the X more competitively. The biggest change is that it doesn’t get a TFT touchscreen like Ola’s higher models, and makes do with a simpler, more cost-effective LCD display instead. Aside from this, it also features more unpainted black plastics than the S1 Air, which will also have helped shave costs.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 launched at Rs 1.48 lakh

In addition to rolling out the S1 X, Ola today also launched the 2nd gen S1 Pro. Being built on the new platform, the company says it features a number of improvements over its debut product. The motor is one area of change – where it previously produced 5.5kW continuous and 8.5kW peak output, it now makes 5kW continuous and 11kW peak output. As a result, the claimed top speed has risen from 116kph to 120kph, and the 0-40kph claimed acceleration has dropped from 2.9 seconds to 2.6 seconds.

Though its battery capacity remains the same, at 4kWh, Ola says it has made improvements to the battery pack as well as efficiency, and as a result, range numbers have seen a slight increase. Certified range has risen from 181km to 195km, and true range in Eco mode has gone up from 170km to 180km. Charging time from 0-100% remains the same, at 6.5 hours.

There are also chassis changes that are part of the Gen 2 update, including the move from the single-sided front suspension to a conventional telescopic fork. The new frame also means that the spine section has disappeared and you now get a flat floorboard. The 2nd gen S1 Pro has been priced at Rs 1.48 lakh, which marks a price hike of Rs 8,000 over the 1st gen machine.

All prices ex-showroom, Bengaluru, after FAME-2 subsidy
