Global debut of the Palisade has been moved ahead due to a shift in demand towards hybrid vehicles globally.

Hyundai’s full-size SUV, the Palisade, is being readied for a complete model change. The new Palisade was slated for a global reveal by mid to late next year, but according to this website, the plans for introducing the new-gen SUV have been moved forward. The Palisade will now enter series production by 2024-end, and a global debut will now take place early next year.

  1. Next-gen Palisade to feature Theta 3 petrol-hybrid engine
  2. Will be more upmarket than the outgoing model
  3. Hyundai will bring petrol-hybrid models in India by 2027

Hyundai Palisade SUV: what exactly is it?

The Palisade is Hyundai’s flagship product, with a considerable following in many markets. The SUV rivals its badge-engineered twin, the Kia Telluride, and the recently revealed Toyota Grand Highlander. The new Palisade has been under development for some time and is expected to be more upmarket and stylish than its predecessor, thanks to the benchmark set by the latest-gen Santa Fe SUV, with its plush cabin and unique exterior looks. The current-gen Palisade was under evaluation for an India launch; however, it never made it to our shores.

Next-gen Palisade SUV: why is it early?

The demand for petrol-hybrid vehicles has been soaring in many international markets. That’s why the Korean automaker has advanced the start of production of the Palisade, which gets the new Theta 3 hybrid powertrain.

The next generation of Palisade will get Hyundai’s new flagship Theta engine line-up, the first of which will be an all-new 2.5-litre turbo-petrol unit with a strong hybrid powertrain. This new unit would replace the Lambda series of engines, which don’t have hybrid assistance.

More Hyundai Hybrids globally, including India

Thanks to the increasing shift towards hybrids, we expect Hyundai to introduce more petrol-hybrid models globally going forward. As we reported recently, the carmaker has plans to start offering hybrid powertrains for its SUVs and sedans by 2027, including the Creta, Alcazar, Verna and Tucson.
