The next-gen 390 Adventure will be vastly more off-road capable.
It’s no secret that KTM is developing a much more off-road focussed version of the next-gen 390 Adventure and we now have our clearest set of images of the bike yet. Interestingly, it was also spotted alongside a new 390 Enduro.

Next-gen KTM 390 Adventure: details
While this could be an R version that sells alongside the standard next-gen 390 ADV, what’s clear is that this bike is running on a 21-inch front wheel and either a 17-inch or 18-inch rear. The USD fork also appears to have more travel than the current 390 ADV and it is highly likely to be an adjustable unit, at least in terms of compression and rebound damping. The chassis and swingarm are all new as well and this bike is using the same new motor that is expected to debut in the next-gen KTM 390 Duke that we recently spied testing in India.
What gives away the fact that this is likely to be a next-gen 390 model that will be made in India and not one of the hardcore off road bikes from KTM’s international line-up is that it is using Bybre brakes. Moreover, the underbelly exhaust is an unusual choice for a bike that appears to be quite off-road capable, considering that KTM’s entire enduro and dirt bike range has high-mounted exhaust systems to maximise water-wading capability.
Nevertheless, this bike certainly looks the part with rally bike-inspired bodywork, a dirt-bike style fender and a tall, double-stanced LED headlamp. The TFT display being used appears to be the same shape as the current 390 ADV, but its layout might be revised to follow the likes of the new KTM 890 Adventure R.
KTM 390 Enduro: details
While the Adventure bike was seen testing with accessories including hard luggage and auxiliary lamps, the Enduro bike had some soft luggage mounted to the back seat. Mechanically, the Enduro bike seems quite similar to the Adventure in terms of the chassis, engine and suspension. The fuel tank is also similar, but the tank extensions are a bit shorter and there is no front wind protection.
It is fair to expect that the next-gen 390 Duke will launch sometime next year and there is some possibility that the Adventure range may be saved for 2024.
