Mini Shadow Edition: exterior design

On the outside, the Mini gets a colour scheme of gloss black with silver accents. There is also a bonnet scoop with a special decal to emphasise the fact that this is indeed a special edition. What helps drive that point home are the accents and badging on the car. Mini calls the shade of the accents ‘melting silver’ and it covers the roof and wing mirrors of the SUV. However, the most striking bit on the outside is the decal that sits between the front quarter panel and the front door. An overlay of black and silver lines breaks up the otherwise simple design which the company claims gives the SUV an “an air of mystery”.

The black colour theme is just limited to the outside of the Mini. Inside the SUV does not get any new colour, but retains the same theme of silver for the dashboard elements and tan leather upholstery. The SUV also gets an 8.8-inch touchscreen, puddle lamps, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof and wireless charging.

The front seats are electrically powered however only the driver’s seat gets the memory function. Towards the rear, Mini has equipped the SUV with an automatic tailgate function. The boot has a capacity of 450 litres, and with the rear seats folded down, that can be increased to 1,390 litres.

Mini Shadow Edition: Powertrain and performance

The Mini Shadow edition is powered by a 2-litre, turbo-petrol engine that makes 178hp and 280Nm. This unit is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and the company claims the SUV can go from 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 225kph.
