Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept: what is it?
The Vision 6 concept was first unveiled in 2016 at the Pebble Beach in California, and after touring the world over for several motor shows and automotive events, it has now finally arrived here in India.
The nearly six-metre-long 2+2 luxury coupe concept pays homage to the extravagantly styled aero coupés of the 1930s. It reinterprets many classic Maybach design themes such as the striking chrome grille on the front bumper that’s modelled on past Maybach models.
The large bumper also houses distinctive thin-lined LED headlights and a heavily contoured lower section with blade-like air ducts that feed cooling air to the front brakes. The concept also has gullwing doors, hinging upwards from the roof.
At the rear is a boat-tail design that’s aimed at aerodynamic efficiency. The rear features a shallow rear window, plunging boot line, narrow horizontally mounted LED tail-lights, vertical ducts to extract air from the rear wheel arches, and an integrated diffuser. The concept car also gets 24-inch wheels that body-coloured aero covers.
Although its just a concept, under the skin, the Vision 6 features an 80kWh lithium-ion battery that powers four electric motors to produce a combined 750hp. The concept is claimed to have an overall range of more than 500km on the European test procedure.
