Maruti Suzuki Production milestone, Haryana plant, Hansalpur plant

The Maruti Alto was the highest contributor towards the milestone with 50.5 lakh units produced.

Maruti Suzuki India has registered yet another milestone, the company has surpassed cumulative production of over 3 crore units since it began manufacturing cars in December 1983.

Maruti Suzuki India: Journey to 3 crore units 

The milestone covers production undertaken at the company’s Gurugram, Manesar (Haryana) and Hansalpur (in Gujarat) manufacturing facilities. Notably, Indian operations are the fastest to achieve this feat among all Suzuki Motor Corp production bases, achieving it in a record 40 years and 4 months.

While over 2.68 crore vehicles have been manufactured at the Haryana-based facilities, over 32 lakh vehicles were produced at Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MSIL.

The top 10 models which have contributed to the milestone are the Alto (50.5 lakh), Swift (31.9 lakh), Wagon R (31.8 lakh), M800 (29.1 lakh), Dzire (28.6 lakh), Omni (20.2 lakh), Baleno (19.5 lakh), Eeco (11.9 lakh), Brezza (11.6 lakh) and the Ertiga (11 lakh).

Maruti Suzuki India’s future plans

In a statement to the press, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Today India is world’s third largest passenger vehicle market and poised to grow stronger in coming years. To fulfil customer demand and aspirations, we plan to invest further and increase our annual production capacity to 4 million units by FY2030-31. Working towards this, we will set up two new green field manufacturing plants of 10 lakh capacity each at Kharkhoda-Haryana and Gujarat. We will also enhance our range of models from present 18 to 28 by FY 2030-31.”

The company currently sells 18 models through its Nexa, Arena and Commercial retail channels. In addition, it exports its product range to nearly 100 countries globally.
