Maruti Suzuki Jimny fuel efficiency
The Jimny 5-door is powered by the 1.5-litre K15B engine that produces 105hp and 134.2Nm of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox with ‘2WD-high’, ‘4WD-high’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes. The Jimny 5-door is available in two trims – Zeta and Alpha.
The manual gearbox-equipped Jimny 5-door returns a fuel efficiency of 16.94kpl, while the automatic gearbox version has a fuel efficiency of 16.39kpl. With a fuel tank of 40 litres, the Jimny manual could cover up to 678km on a full tank, while the automatic version could cover up to 656km. Expect the real-world range to be slightly different than these figures.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny waiting period, production
Maruti Suzuki opened the bookings for the rugged SUV earlier this year and the carmaker has announced that it has garnered around 30,000 bookings for the Jimny 5-door. The waiting period for the manual variants will stretch up to six months upon launch, while the automatic variants will have a waiting period of up to eight months.
Earlier this month, Maruti Suzuki recently rolled out the first Jimny 5-door from its plant in Gurugram. Sources tell us that the prices for the Jimny 5-door will be announced in the first week of June.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny expected price and rivals
With the prices expected to range between Rs 10 lakh-12 lakh (ex-showroom), the Jimny 5-door will have no direct rival upon launch. However, given its price, positioning and off-road ability, it will compete with the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
