The recall has been issued for models manufactured between November 2 to November 28, 2022.
Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall of 9,125 cars comprising models like the new Grand Vitara, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz manufactured between November 2-28, 2022. According to Maruti Suzuki, there is a possible defect in one of the child parts of the shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front seatbelts. The defect might lead to seat belt disassembly. The Grand Vitara’s cousin model, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has also been recalled for the same reason.
Affected vehicle owners will be communicated by Maruti Suzuki’s authorised workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part. The carmaker will inspect and replace the part free of charge.
Maruti Suzuki recalls in 2022
This is not the first recall by Maruti Suzuki this year. In October, the carmaker had issued a recall of 9.925 units of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Celerio and Ignis manufactured between August 3 to September 1 to rectify a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin. In April, 19,731 Eeco MPVs were recalled to rectify the incorrect marking of the wheel rim size.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki models
Maruti Suzuki is now increasing its focus on the SUV space in the Indian market. Earlier this year, the company introduced the all-new Brezza compact SUV and the Grand Vitara midsize SUV in the country, while an all-new Baleno Cross and the much awaited five-door Jimny SUV will go on sale next year. Both the models will see a global debut at Auto Expo 2023 in January.
