Maruti Suzuki Alto, Celerio and Wagon R Festive edition launched

Maruti Suzuki has introduced Festive editions of its Alto, Celerio and Wagon R models. The Festive edition hatchbacks get accessory packs that can be availed at Maruti Suzuki dealerships across the country. There are no mechanical changes on the Festive edition models. 

  • Prices for the kit range from Rs 25,490 for the Alto to Rs 29,990 for the Wagon R

  • The Festive edition kit includes seat covers, floor mats and body mouldings among others

Maruti Suzuki Festive edition details

On the Alto, the Festive edition accessory pack gets you a Pioneer touchscreen music system, 6-inch Kenwood speakers, a security system, dual-tone seat covers, steering wheel cover and floor mats. The Maruti Suzuki Alto Festive edition kit costs Rs 25,490.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio Festive edition meanwhile, gets a 2-DIN Sony audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, seat covers, piano black body side mouldings, door visors and floor mats. The Festive edition kit on the Celerio costs Rs 25,990. 

On the Wagon R, the Festive edition kit gets you front and rear bumper protectors, front grille chrome garnish, side skirts, black body side moulding, seat covers, an interior styling kit and floor mats. The Festive edition kit on the Wagon R is priced at Rs 29,990. 

Maruti Suzuki Alto, Celerio and Wagon R engines and gearboxes

The Maruti Suzuki Alto is powered by a 796cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 48hp and 69Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and returns an ARAI-rated 22.05kpl. There’s also a CNG-powered version of the Alto that has a slightly less output of 40hp and 60Nm. The Alto S-CNG is also paired to a 5-speed manual and it does 31.59km/kg.

The Celerio is powered by Maruti’s 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 68hp and 90Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and AMT, both of which return 21.63kpl (ARAI). The Celerio also gets the option of a CNG version, which uses the same engine but produces 59hp and 78Nm of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed manual only and does 30.47km/kg.  

The Wagon R meanwhile, also gets the same 1.0-litre engine and gearbox options as the Celerio. However, Maruti also offers the larger 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with the Wagon R, which produces 83hp and 113Nm of torque. Gearbox options for the Wagon R 1.2 include a 5-speed manual and AMT, both of which return 20.52kpl (ARAI).

Alto, Celerio and Wagon R: More details

The Alto, Celerio and Wagon R hatchbacks have been Maruti Suzuki’s bestsellers. Recently, the Alto crossed the 40 lakh sales milestone, which made it India’s best-selling car of all time. The manufacturer also announced that it’s Wagon R CNG model, crossed 3 lakh sales recently, making it the highest selling CNG passenger vehicle in the country. Currently, Maruti is working on the next-gen Celerio, the launch of which is slated for early 2021.
