Ahead of its launch later in April, Maruti has revealed the fuel economy figures for its upcoming Fronx coupe SUV.

Maruti Suzuki had unveiled the Fronx coupe SUV at Auto Expo 2023 in January, and while the brand had shared several details about the car then, its fuel efficiency figures were not announced. However, at the Fronx media drive, the carmaker officially revealed the SUV coupe’s fuel economy figures.

  1. Fronx 1.2 petrol MT does 21.79kpl
  2. Fronx 1.0 turbo petrol MT does 21.5kpl
  3. Fronx 1.0 turbo petrol AT does 20.01 kpl

Maruti Fronx: how fuel efficient is it?

Maruti will retail the Fronx with two engine options. We first look at the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated DualJet petrol engine, which is good for 90hp and 113Nm. Gearbox choices include a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT automatic. The 1.2 NA engine is offered on the first three trims – Sigma, Delta and Delta+. The manual gearbox is standard on all three trims, while the AMT gearbox can be had on the Delta and Delta+ trims.

The Fronx with the 1.2 NA engine delivers 21.79kpl for the manual variant and 22.89kpl for the AMT.

The second engine option on the Fronx is the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol Boosterjet unit that delivers 100hp and 147.6Nm. The turbo-petrol engine is offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the NA petrol engine gets a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

With the more powerful 1.0-turbo-petrol engine, the Fronx does 21.5kpl for the manual gearbox and 20.01kpl with the automatic. The 1.0-turbo engine will be offered on the Delta+, Zeta and Alpha trims, and while the manual gearbox is standard on all trims, the AT gearbox is available on Zeta and Alpha trims.
