Maruti Brezza price, updated features, engine, rivals

While the Brezza manual no longer gets the mild hybrid tech, it is still available on the automatic version.

Maruti Suzuki has silently updated its Brezza compact SUV. This update, which was seen on the brochure on Maruti’s website, rejigs the features list of the Brezza. Maruti has also updated the powertrain in the Brezza by removing the mild-hybrid tech from the manual gearbox-equipped variants.

  1. Maruti Brezza now gets seat-belt reminders for all seats
  2. Brezza CNG loses out on ESP, hill-hold assist

Maruti Suzuki Brezza: what’s changed?

The Brezza now gets seat-belt reminders for all passengers, whereas the reminder was earlier limited to the front seats. These reminders work regardless of whether all seats are occupied, a feature seen in newer Maruti models like the Fronx and Jimny.

On the other hand, a couple of other safety features have been removed from the CNG variants. The Brezza CNG no longer gets an electronic stability program (ESP) or hill-hold assist.

The rest of the features list remains unchanged. It continues to get a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, up to six airbags, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Arkamys-tuned speaker system, wireless charging and a single-pane sunroof.

As mentioned above, Maruti Suzuki has removed its mild-hybrid tech from the manual gearbox-equipped versions of the Brezza. The Brezza automatic still gets this tech, while the CNG version never got it in the first place.

The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 103hp and 137Nm of torque. The CNG version gets the same engine but produces 87.8hp and 121.5Nm of torque in CNG mode and 100.6hp and 136Nm of torque in petrol mode. While the CNG version only gets a 5-speed manual, the petrol version also gets a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza price, rivals

Despite all of the updates, there are no changes to the price of the Brezza. It starts at Rs 8.29 lakh for the LXI MT variant and goes up to Rs 13.98 lakh for the ZXi+ At variant. The Brezza rivals the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite
