LEVC has announced that its first passenger car to reach the UK market will be an eight-seat MPV.
The LEVC L380 is a luxurious electric people carrier built on parent group Geely’s newest electric vehicle (EV) platform, and it will be available to purchase in the UK within the next two years.
Currently LEVC is best known in the UK for its TX electric taxi and its VN5 panel van based on the same vehicle, and its UK dealer network includes AM100 groups Caffyns, Endeavour Automotive and Vertu Motors.
The vehicle manufacturer revealed its intention to introduce a variety of electric cars and vans last year. It said at the time that its new modular platform for future vehicles would allow for three battery options to be offered: 73kWH with WLTP range of 225 miles; 102kWH with 308 miles; and 120kWh with 359 miles.
LEVC claims that the new model will provide an exceptionally roomy and deluxe experience, catering to both families and business users.
It could offer customers an alternative to current electric people carriers such as the Mercedes-Benz EQV, Citroen e-SpaceTourer, Kia EV9 and forthcoming Volvo EM90, also under Geely’s parentage.
LEVC chief executive Alex Nan said: “As we accelerate our transition from manufacturing the world’s most advanced and iconic taxi to becoming a leading e-mobility technology company, I am delighted to reach another important milestone, revealing more details on our new L380, which sets new standards in the luxury MPV sector.
“As with all our products, L380 takes inspiration from the company’s rich history, combined with the vast resources and technical innovation of the Geely Holding Group. It is full of exquisite details and delightful touches, combining space-efficient design with premium quality, raising the bar for multi-purpose vehicles.
“The innovative SOA technology on which L380 sits spearheads our exciting new strategy that will see the business take a global approach, growing our footprint across the world.
“We aim to have a presence in over 40 countries in the coming years, with multiple new models based on the SOA platform leading the way.”
