InCharge updating US Nissan dealer EV chargers

Ariya has CCS DC fast charging hence the dealer infratructure upgrade.

In-Charge Energy, a specialist in commercial fleet EV infrastructure, is working for Nissan North America to install charging hardware and software at 500 dealerships across the US.

The upgraded chargers are part of the preparations for the 2022 Ariya electric crossover, due on sale later this year.

The Ariya has CCS-format DC fast charging rather than CHAdeMo used on the Nissan Leaf EV since 2010.

In-Charge is swapping dealers’ CHAdeMo-compliant fast chargers with newer ABB 50kW fast chargers which can charge older EVs as well as the new model.

Nissan is also using In-Charge Energy’s software, In-Control, claimed to be the first fleet-focused charger management platform, which allows users to digitally operate, monitor and maintain individual chargers throughout their life cycle. It also allows dealers to prepare reports for carbon-emission tax credit opportunities.

The hardware installations and infrastructure upgrades dealerships are expected to be complete by the end of 2021.
