New Hyundai Verna is longer and wider than its predecessor; gets two petrol engine options.
Ahead of its global debut on March 21, Hyundai has shared the new Verna’s dimensions and features. The new Verna is expected to go on sale by the end of this month, with deliveries likely to start by mid-April.

New Hyundai Verna: dimensions and features
As reported by us earlier, the new Verna is bigger than the outgoing car. This has been done as the new Verna moves slightly higher in the segment in order to fill the gap left by the now discontinued Elantra sedan.
As far as dimensions go, the new Hyundai Verna is 4,535mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,475mm high, which makes it longer and wider than the outgoing car, although the height remains the same. It has a boot capacity of 528 litres, which is 50 litres more than its predecessor.

Apart from the dimensions, Hyundai India has also shared details on some of the features that will be seen on the new Verna, including a unique phone holder for the front passenger, a multi-purpose console and cooled glove box. The new Verna will get a dual tone beige and black interior theme, while higher variants will have leatherette interiors.
New Hyundai Verna: powertrain, production and delivery details
Hyundai is offering the Verna with two petrol engine options and has dropped the diesel engine. The low-spec variants will come with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine, while the higher variants will get the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol good for 160hp. Gearbox choices include a six-speed manual as standard for both engines, while a CVT and DCT are available as an option for the 1.5 NA and 1.5 turbo, respectively.
Hyundai India has begun series production of the new Verna for the Indian and export markets at its Chennai plant. Dealers have shared with us that deliveries could begin by mid-April and, at the moment, the top-spec 1.5 turbo-petrol DCT-equipped variants are in high demand. The Verna rivals the likes of the facelifted Honda City, which was launched today, the VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
