Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) announced it had signed an agreement with Singapore-based JTC to jointly develop smart transport and logistics systems for the island nation’s new industrial and business parks, starting with the Jurong Innovation District.
HMG said it would use its mobility expertise and develop transport models based on its analysis of Jurong Innovation District’s transport requirements while JTC would provide the data necessary to support the initial study.
HMG Group said it would develop and deploy smart mobility solutions for next generation industrial and business parks, using electric vehicles, autonomous vehicle technology and other forms of transport.
Youngcho Chi, HMG’s chief innovation officer, said in a statement: “This project will serve as a stepping stone for future smart city projects in Singapore. We hope this transport modeling and subsequent projects will become a model for private innovation and government policy working in tandem.”
JTC CEO Tan Boon Khai said: “We are always on the lookout for innovative solutions which can give us insights into how better to design and masterplan the next generation of Singapore’s industrial estates and ecosystems. Through such testbeds working with partners here, we hope to develop smart mobility models and guidelines that can ultimately benefit JTC’s future smart estates.”
