While Hyundai keeps drip feeding information about the new Creta, leaked pictures on the internet have now given us a complete look at the exterior updates to the SUV. The Creta facelift gets an all-new front and rear end that’s specific to India, along with a completely overhauled interior.
- New Creta looks more upright and boxier
- Interior gets twin connected 10.25-inch infotainment screens
- Gets new 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine
Hyundai Creta facelift exterior design
The Creta facelift gets an all-new face that looks more upright and boxy with a new grille, headlamp and bumper assembly. There’s a full-width LED light band that ends with inverted L-shaped elements at the edges, while the main LED headlamp cluster is now rectangular and vertically positioned on the bumper. The grille, too, is now rectangular with three horizontal slats, and, together with the lower portion of the bumper, looks a lot more blocky than before. The dual-tone finish to the bumper with the faux silver skid plates also give it a very muscular look.
At the rear, the split tail lamp setup is gone. Instead, there’s a single blacked-out horizontal band that houses the full-width LED tail-lamps mimicing the front-end design. This has also necessitated a repositioning of the number plate housing. Lastly, the rear bumper looks a lot chunkier than before, and has new block-like details. There are, however, no major changes in profile save for a new set of alloy wheels.
Hyundai Creta facelift interior, features
The interior, too, has an all-new design with twin 10.25-inch connected screens. The dashboard wraps rather elegantly around the screens and the AC vent on the passenger side is now incorporated within a gloss black horizontal band on the dashboard. The HVAC panel has also been revised, and thankfully retains physical dials and toggle switches.
Creature comforts on higher trims of the Creta facelift include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, Level 2 ADAS suite that is said to have 19 functions, 360-degree cameras, a blind spot monitoring system, among others.
Hyundai Creta facelift engine options
Under the hood, the Creta facelift will continue with the 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, with a manual gearbox as standard and CVT and torque converter gearboxes as options, respectively. The turbo-petrol makes a comeback in the form of the 160hp, 1.5-litre engine that replaces the now-discontinued 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and will likely be offered with both manual and DCT gearboxes.
Hyundai has begun taking bookings for the Creta facelift and deliveries are expected to begin by late January. Once Creta facelift prices are revealed in the coming days, it’ll rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun in the midsize SUV segment.
