Hyundai Creta facelift exterior: what’s new

The 2024 Creta is no nip and tuck job. Rather, Hyundai has gone for a completely redone front and rear styling. Up front, there’s a larger grille with parametric details (as Hyundai calls it) that’s complemented by an altogether new lighting arrangement. The split setup comprises LED DRLs, sequential indicators and a light bar atop the grille, with the main quad LED headlamps positioned lowered down on the bumper. New scuff plates also do their bit for the look and in all frontal styling is less polarising than 2020’s Creta.

This is true of tail end styling as well. The 2024 Creta sports a more angular look at the back and full LED tail lamps and a full width LED light bar lend it a new lighting signature too. A new rear bumper completes the makeover.  Where the Creta looks no different is at the sides where new alloy wheels are your only giveaway of this being the 2024 model.

Hyundai has also gone the distance to give the Creta a new dashboard with this update. Taking pride of place on the dash is a 10.25-inch touchscreen (it gets a software update) that flows into the new 10.25-inch digital driver display from the Alcazar. The screen gets three themes and is also the display for the blind view monitor that relays footage from the side view mirrors when the indicator is activated. The centre console lower down on the dash has also been redone with controls for the new dual-zone climate control system. Lighter colours and copper details are also other changes of note on the inside.

The rear section of the cabin carries over largely unchanged with new USB Type C charging points being the only new inclusion. There’s no change to boot volume either that stands at 433 litres.

Hyundai Creta facelift features and safety: what’s new

When it comes to features, the Creta continues to wow. Comfort and convenience features include a powered driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, onboard air purifier, electric parking brake, two-step adjustable rear seat backrest, pillows for the rear seat headrests and rear sunshades. The tech suite is just as impressive. The 10.25-inch digital display is crisp and easy to refer to, the touchscreen is slick (and also gets the option to have the UI in 12 regional languages), the new 360-degree camera is a boon and the Bose sound system is impressive in its own right. Also part of the package is connected tech that brings with it multiple features such as a new Jio Saavn music streaming app. You can also remotely keep an eye on your car using the eSIM-based setup.

The new Creta also sees safety upgrades. 6 airbags are standard across the board and higher-spec models also get radar and camera-based advanced driver assist systems or ADAS. The suite of 19 ADAS functions includes features such as auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane keep assist and more. Aside from the tech enhancements, Hyundai claims the body shell has been reinforced at critical points for enhanced crash protection. The 2024 Creta complies with India’s latest crash test norms and will be rated by Bharat NCAP in the coming months.

Hyundai Creta facelift engines: what’s new

The only major mechanical change on the Creta facelift is that there’s a new 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which replaces the previously available 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit. This new engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox only. The 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engines continue unchanged, with their respective manual and automatic gearbox options.
