The company plans to start exporting its EV the Vida V1 by the first half of 2023.
Hero MotoCorp currently exports its products to a total of 29 countries world wide, with a majority of those being in South America in addition to a few in Asia and Africa. The two-wheeler maker is now simultaneously eyeing expanding its presence in those markets as well as moving into Europe soon.
Moving into Europe will be the big talking point as this will be the first ‘mature’ market the two wheeler giant expands to. To do so, Hero plans to begin with its Vida V1 electric scooter which was just launched in India. EVs are gaining traction quickly and the Vida should offer enough performance and premium features to attract European buyers. Vida exports should begin by the first half of 2023. Moreover, Hero is currently developing a range of 300cc plus products which will also find a place in advanced markets like Europe once they are ready.
When it commences its exports, Hero could be India’s first EV maker to have its products reach foreign shores. Company chairman and CEO Dr Pawan Munjal also stated that Hero has a lot of inquiries coming in from its international manufacturing facilities in Colombia and Bangladesh.
The Vida V1 is Hero’s first electric vehicle and it is sold under the new Vida sub brand. Click here to watch our first impressions video.
