Hero MotoCorp, Suzuki hike prices of all models

Suzuki Motorcycle India and Hero MotoCorp have hiked prices across nearly their entire two-wheeler model line-ups, with the only exceptions being Suzuki’s big bikes.

  • Suzuki models have seen a price increase of up to Rs 3,500
  • Hero’s price hikes go up to Rs 3,000
  • Hero claims this has been caused by increased raw material prices

Despite a couple of surprising and rather significant price cuts to a pair of 250cc models recently, the predominant trend in the two-wheeler market seems to be periodic price hikes. Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp have both increased prices for pretty much all their models, with the latter claiming that this has been brought on by an increase in raw material prices.

Scooters and motorcycles are both affected, and the only exceptions here are Suzuki’s two big bikes in India, the Hayabusa (whose review you can check out here) and the V-Strom 650XT, both of whose prices remain unchanged.

Hero’s prices have been upped by up to Rs 3,000, depending on the model, while Suzuki’s go as high as Rs 3,500. This is rather unfortunate, because Suzuki’s maximum price hike is seen on its 250cc models, and this is exactly the same segment where Yamaha and Bajaj have both drastically slashed prices of their own offerings. This leaves the Gixxer 250 a good Rs 12,000 more expensive than the Dominar and over Rs 30,000 more expensive than the FZ25.
