The bike will be based on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform, and is likely to be launched in February.
It is no secret that Hero will launch its own motorcycle on the co-developed 440cc platform with Harley-Davidson. In fact we recently reported that the bike will make its public debut in January with the launch and first ride reviews likely to happen in February 2024.
Now, we have a good idea of what the bike might be called. Hero has trademarked two names that could be used for this bike in the past year. The first was Hurikan 440, which we reported on HERE. However, in March 2023, Hero applied for another name, Mavrick 440, and it now looks like this will be the name that the company finally goes with.
What gives it away is the teaser invite that the company has issued to various publications. Manufacturers try to have some fun with new vehicle launches and Hero has done something unique for its upcoming 440. Each physical invite sent out contains a single alphabet that will be used in the final name of the bike. The alphabets that we are aware of include I, R and V.
The first two letters work for both names, but the V only finds a place in Mavrick, which leads to the safe assumption that this is the name Hero will end up using.
While the Hero bike will use the same 440cc motor from the Harley-Davidson X440, expect it to have significantly different style and possibly a different chassis as well. This bike is likely to offer a different experience and be positioned more as a roadster of sorts.
What do you think of this name and which one do you prefer between Mavrick or Hurikan?
