The new Hero Electric Eddy e- scooter does not require registration or a driving license.
Hero Electric has launched its latest offering, the Eddy scooter, at Rs 72,000 (ex-showroom). The electric scooter is a low-speed e-scooter, catering to those who wish to commute short distances in an environmentally responsible fashion and as such does not qualify for FAME 2 subsidies.
The new Hero Electric Eddy scooter does not need to be registered for road use nor does it need the rider to possess a license. This is because the 250W BLDC (Brushless DC) motor propels it to a rather modest top speed of only 25kph, allowing it to be legally ridden without a license or registration. Hero claims that the Eddy is capable of traveling a distance of 85km on a single charge and the 1.536kWh battery is fully charged in approximately 3-4 hours. It can be had in two colors – yellow and what appears to be teal.
The Eddy also comes equipped with several features, including follow me home lights, reverse mode, find my vehicle, and a digital instrument cluster.
Hero Electric currently has 750 sales and service outlets across the country.
The Eddy seems to offer practical and sustainable transport to those in need of a no-frills urban mobility solution, though the pricing, which is on par with many petrol scooters, is rather high for the product on offer.
