To cater to these premium offerings, the company claims it will open over 100 dealerships in the next four quarters.
With a strong foothold in the 100cc segment and plans afoot to expand its presence in the 125cc category, Hero is also focusing on building its presence in the premium bike sector in India.

Currently, there are four models that Hero is developing and these are divided equally into the ‘Core Premium’ and ‘Upper Premium’ categories. In the ‘Core Premium’ category, there are two design sketches, one of a fully-faired bike and the other of a naked streetfighter. The fully-faired bike could well be the Karizma and the streetfighter beside it could be a new model based on the same platform.
In the ‘Upper Premium’ category, the Harley-Davidson X440 is clearly visible and there appears to be another naked streetfighter. Whether this model will share its engine with the Harley X440 or whether it is powered by a new, larger liquid-cooled engine remains to be seen.

These premium models will be sold via specific dealerships and the company has plans to set up more than 100 over the next year.
