Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire S2 Mulholland has a cruiser aesthetic, shares battery with S2 Del Mar.

Harley-Davidson’s electric subsidiary, LiveWire, has revealed the details of its third model – the S2 Mulholland – and it shares its battery pack with the S2 Del Mar.

  1. Makes 84hp, 263Nm of torque
  2. Uses same battery as S2 Del Mar but has different range numbers
  3. Has 6 riding modes – 4 preset, 2 cusomizable

LiveWire S2 Mulholland range, power, weight

Powering the LiveWire S2 Mulholland is the same 10.5kWh battery pack that’s found in the S2 Del Mar but here the range numbers are slightly different. The S2 Mulholland is claimed to have 195km of ‘city’ range, 116km of ‘highway’ range ridden at a ‘steady’ 88kph and a combined range of 105km. In contrast the comparable range figures for the S2 Del Mar stand at 180km, 137km and 112km.

The S2 Mulholland is also 1.7kg lighter than the S2 Del Mar and tips the scales at 196kg (kerb). Tyre sizes are also different between both models, with the Mulholland running a 19/17-inch combination (F/R) compared to the Del Mar’s 19-inch wheels at both ends. These factors are likely why both bikes have different range figures despite having the same battery capacity. A full charge takes a whopping 9.1hours when plugged into a L1 charger, which drops to 2hr22min when the battery is hooked up to a L2 charger.

While the S2 Mulholland’s peak output figures are identical to the S2 Del Mar’s 84hp and 263Nm, the top speed and acceleration times vary slightly. LiveWire claims a 0-96kph sprint time of 3.3s and a top speed of 159kph, both of which are slightly slower than the Del Mar’s 3.0s and 166kph claimed numbers.

Styling-wise the S2 Mulholland has a very cruiser-y feel to it with the round LED headlight, upswept handlebar and a relatively low-slung seat section. The headlight and turn indicators appear to be the same as the LiveWire One and those underslung bar-end mirrors give it a little bit of a custom vibe.

Specification levels are quite respectable on the LiveWire S2 Mulholland, which is essentially a mid-tier model from the company. Suspension is courtesy of Hitachi (yes, you read that right) and is fully adjustable at the front, while the rear monoshock’s preload and rebound damping are adjustable. A single Brembo M4.32 monobloc caliper is on stopping duty at the front and dual-channel ABS is standard.

A circular 4-inch TFT dash controls are the electronic wizardry on the S2 Mulholland and gets Bluetooth connectivity, Voice command and text-to-speech functionality once paired to the user’s smartphone. Four preset riding modes are on offer – Sport, Road, Range and Rain – alongside two fully customizable modes – custom A and custom B. Traction control and regenerative braking are also part of the riding aids arsenal and can be set to according to the rider’s preference in the custom modes. While TC can be swtiched off entirely, the intervention of ABS and regenerative braking can only be toned down, never completely shut off.

At an asking price of USD15,999 (approx Rs 13.33 lakh) the LiveWire S2 Mulholland sits just above the USD15,499 (approx Rs 12.92 lakh) S2 Del Mar but is still much more accessible (and lower-spec) than the company’s flagship – the USD22,799 (approx Rs 19 lakh) One. None of the Harley-Davidson LiveWire models have been launched in India so far, and it remains to be seen if Harley-Davidson will change that going forward.
