Ford in North America is again cutting production of its F-150 pickup truck next week due to the ongoing chips supply crisis which is impacting automakers around the globe.
Reports in US media say Ford’s Oakville Assembly Plant in Canada and Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri will be down the week of August 30. Oakville also builds the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs. Kansas City assembles the F-150.
Reports say Ford also will cut two of three shifts next week at its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, which produces the F-150.
“Our teams continue making the most of our available semiconductor allocation, finding unique solutions to provide as many high-quality vehicles as possible to our dealers and customers,” the company said in a statement.
The downtime next week follows the Kansas City plant being down the week of the 23rd.
The Ford F-150 pickup is highly profitable model line for Ford, so output constraints – at a time of high demand in the US – will hit its bottom line.
