The number of chargers available to electric vehicle drivers on Ford’s BlueOval network has increased again following the addition of GeniePoint.
Ford’s new deal with EQUANS, which owns and operate GeniePoint, takes the network to 16,000 UK charge points plus 300,000 across Europe.
The continued expansion of the BlueOval charging network, accessible via the Ford Pass app, comes ahead of this year’s arrival of the performance version of the Mustang Mach-E and new E-Transit van.
Ford claims the E-Transit “sets a new benchmark for EV productivity, value and ownership with a 196-mile range van, a forecast 40% reduction in running costs and ‘Ford Pro’ back-up on charging, service, telematics and fleet intelligence.
Other BlueOval charge network users include the standard Mach-E introduced last year, plus Kuga car and Transit/Tourneo Custom van plug-in hybrids.
GeniePoint, the third largest rapid charging network in the UK, has 500 rapid charge points which can now be located, monitored and paid for within the Ford Pass app. Last year Pulse, the biggest public charging network in the UK, was also integrated.
Tim Nicklin, Ford’s electrification manager, said: “Key to this roll-out is providing customers with a supporting infrastructure and now, together with GeniePoint, we continue our commitment to match more electrified vehicles with enough locations to charge them.”
