Faurecia unveils partnership agreement with CNRS

Faurecia has signed a five-year partnership agreement with the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) focusing on several areas of research.

Examples of collaboration areas being discussed are Cockpit of the Future (in particular human-vehicle interaction and cabin thermal management), hydrogen systems and sustainable materials (circular economy).

The partnership will enable Faurecia to have regular exchanges on a large variety of research fields, benefit from the CNRS’s expertise and create collaborative research projects by pooling together human and financial resources.

Faurecia will also have access to the CNRS ecosystem of partners, especially start-ups in those fields.

The CNRS is The French National Centre for Scientific Research, one of the world’s leading research institutions.

Its scientists explore the living world, matter, the universe and the functioning of human societies.

Separately, Faurecia has outlined some of its charitable work on the back of GivingTuesday, a global initiative which encourages people and organisations to donate time and money to charitable causes.

Launched in the US in 2012, it has been celebrated each year since then, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

“At Faurecia, it is all year long our employees mobilise for their local communities in various ways; FUELS actions, Faurecia Foundation projects and now the launch of a pilot Solidarity platform,” said a Faurecia statement.

FUELS: Faurecia unites with employees for local service:

Created in 2010 by Faurecia North America employees to fight hunger, the FUELS initiative has gradually expanded to a wider scope of causes and countries.

  • In September, employees from Canada, Mexico and the US were involved in the ‘Help from the Heart’ campaign, with the objective to fight hunger and advance education for children in Canada, Mexico and the US. They raised US$186,140 in more than 50 sites across North America. To match their generosity, Faurecia donated additional funds, which led to a total of US$245,890
  • On 5 October, 60 Faurecia Germany employees gathered at the Hören Augsburg children & youth centre to conduct eight refurbishing projects: classrooms, premises, school garden and playground renovation, new infrastructure creation
  • In November, the annual China ‘Volunteer Month’ was held. A thousand staff from more than 20 sites joined the ‘Backpack-on-the-Go’ activity with their families: a long-distance walk to win backpacks to be donated to schools and unprivileged beneficiaries. Throughout the month, sites were also very active in organising the ‘Smiling Action’ donation campaign;  school supplies for children, a blood drive in Shanghai and raising funds
  • In France, the Henin Beaumont and Magny Vernois sites engaged in ‘Solidarity Month,’ through donation campaigns and activities conducted in partnership with local NGOs

Our company, Foundation was created two years ago: the objective was to give employees more means and financial resources helping them to make a positive contribution to society,” added the Faurecia statement.

“Since 2020, 14 employee-led projects have been supported in the fields of education, mobility and the environment. The Foundation was also active in building external partnerships to provide support during the COVID-19 crisis and acted in favour of women’s empowerment.”
