Alongside the special MCL38 livery, McLaren has also revealed a one-off version of the Senna hypercar.

McLaren will race at the Monaco GP this weekend with a special livery paying tribute to F1 legend Ayrton Senna, 30 years after his death at Imola. The one-off livery features the same colours – yellow, green and blue – as Senna’s iconic helmet.

Senna and McLaren

Senna won all three of his F1 world championships with McLaren and remains the team’s most successful driver. During his time with McLaren, from 1988 to 1993, the Brazilian claimed 35 of his 41 Grand Prix wins, all three of his drivers’ titles and he even helped McLaren win four constructors’ titles.

Of course, Senna is fondly remembered as a ‘King of Monaco’. He won six times in the Principality, including five times in a row from 1989 to 1993. In addition to the one-off livery for the MCL38, the entire McLaren team will wear Senna-inspired kit for the weekend, with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri wearing bespoke overalls.

One-off McLaren Senna hypercar revealed

That’s not all. McLaren Automotive has also revealed a one-off version of the Senna road car. Named Senna Sempre, the hypercar has been hand-painted by McLaren Special Operations and features dot matrix portraits of Senna.

“The team is proud to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary life and racing legacy of Ayrton Senna through this McLaren livery,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown.

“Senna remains revered and respected as Formula 1’s greatest icon, and McLaren’s most decorated driver. His impact on McLaren is enormous, not only through his racing record but also presence within the team, and now his legacy, so it’s an honour to race for him at his most successful circuit in his green, yellow and blue colours.”
