Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, details, performance
This isn’t the first time Ducati has produced a single-cylinder motor and was known to make engines with this configuration around the 1950’s and did so until the 1970’s.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono is Ducati’s attempt at a single-cylinder motorcycle after nearly 4 decades. As the name suggests, the Hypermotard 698 Mono is powered by a 659cc single-cylinder motor that produces 77.5hp at 9,750rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm.
The Hypermotard 950 RVE in comparison is powered by a 937cc L-twin motor that produces 114hp at 9,000rpm and 96Nm at 7,250rpm. In terms of styling, the Hypermotard 698 Mono follows a similar language as its older sibling and combines supermoto styling along with Ducati aesthetics.
Combined with elements such as double exhausts, five spoke alloy wheels, LED headlight, high front mudguard, sharp tail and a tall flat seat, this single-cylinder Ducati is as aggressive as its older sibling. Currently the Hypermotard 698 Mono is available in classic Ducati red and they claim an RVE variant will be arriving later this year. Bookings for this motorcycle have already begun and Ducati aims to begin deliveries by the end of July.
