Citroen C3: price, powertrain, features and rival details

The Citroen C3 now starts at Rs 5.88 lakh and go up to Rs 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

Citroen has increased the prices of the C3 for the first time since its launch in July this year. Prices for the C3 now start at Rs 5.88 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Prices for the base Live variant have been increased by Rs 17,000 and the prices for the top-end Feel Turbo are up by Rs 9,000. While Citroen hasn’t given a reason, it is likely that the carmaker has increased the prices to counter rising input costs.

Here’s a look at the new prices in comparison to the old ones.

Citroen C3 new prices
Variant New Prices Old Prices Difference
1.2 Petrol Live Rs 5.88 lakh Rs 5.71 lakh Rs 17,000
1.2 Petrol Feel Rs 6.80 lakh Rs 6.63 lakh Rs 17,000
1.2 Turbo-Petrol Feel Rs 8.15 lakh Rs 8.06 lakh Rs 9,000

The C3 takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and the Renualt Kiger. With the new pricing, the Citroen C3 marginally undercuts the Tata Punch by Rs 4,000 and is cheaper than the Renualt and Nissan by Rs 11,000 and Rs 9,000 respectively (ex-showroom).

Citroen C3 sales in India

The Citroen C3 is yet to find its feet in India. Going by the sales figures, Citroen sold 550 units of the C3 in its launch month of July and 825 units in August. Its rivals like – the Ignis, Punch, Magnite and the Kiger average around 2000-5000 units every month. It remains to be seen how buyers will react to the price hike but Citroen is confident that despite the hike, the C3 will sell in good numbers.

Citroen C3: powertrain options, automatic gearbox incoming

The C3 comes with two 1.2-litre petrol engine options – an 82hp, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 110hp, turbo-petrol unit. The former is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox while the latter comes with a six-speed manual. Citroen is not offering the option of an automatic gearbox for now, but the carmaker is going to offer a six-speed torque converter automatic in the second half of 2023. Citroen will also update their petrol engines around the time of the launch of the automatic gearbox.
