Easy Ways To Spread Kindness, Compassion and Caring

The world does not always make it easy to see the good in it. It can feel challenging, disheartening and even depressing to see despair and difficulties around you; however, there are so many important steps that you can take to spread positivity. If you want to improve the world around you, here are a few tips to help you spread kindness, compassion and caring.

Make an Effort to Be Kind

If you want the world to be a better place, you need to find ways to retail kindness. This may sound easier said than done, but with a conscious effort, you can make a difference through each small interaction. In a world that is bustling and busy, it can be easy to push kindness to the wayside, but if you learn to express compassion daily, it will become effortless over time and be infectious.

Check-in With Someone Near and Dear

People can often be struggling in the most inconspicuous ways, more so than others ever realize. If you want to make improve the world around you, take some time to check-in on those near and dear to you. Take this one step further and drop off their favorite treat. You may never know the impact that checking in to say hello and that you were thinking of them can do.

Leave a Big Tip or Pay it Forward

If you are out and about, there are plenty of small steps that you can take to put some positivity into the world. Consider leaving a big tip for service staff or paying for someone else in line. These easy ways to spread some kindness and acts of caring do not have to be acknowledged but can go a long way to spread some joy.

It Only Takes Small Steps

If you want to make the world around you a bit brighter, you don’t need to save the world. It is important to realize that your small actions can make a positive change. Those small steps can be a contagious effect and ripple out into the world in a breathtakingly beautiful way.

Spreading compassion is often an afterthought in an overscheduled and distracted world; however, these small acts of kindness are so easily integrated into your daily life. You have the capabilities of being that positive force, so if you want the world to be a little bit brighter, it can start with you.

4 Tips for Buying Your First Car

Picture this: a sleek new car coasting down the highway. As the sun glints off its brilliant ruby red exterior, you catch a glimpse of the make and model—it’s your dream car. The driver beams with satisfaction as they slide open the sunroof.

Picture this: that driver is you.

If this is a dream of yours, it may be time to buy your first car. This might sound intimidating, but here are four ways to make the process easier. Just like with your driving test, preparation pays off—time to study up!

#1 Set Your Budget

This happens all too often: a fresh-faced driver walks into the dealership with no idea what they’re looking for. Like a kid in a candy store or on Christmas morning, everything looks good. After several hours and very little haggling, they drive home in a brand-new car they can’t afford.

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Car salesmen are one smooth-talking bunch. Set a reasonable budget before you start shopping so you can beat them at their own game.

To stay under budget, you’ll have much better luck perusing used cars. New platforms and marketplace apps have made it easier than ever to find a reasonable pre-owned vehicle:

  • CarMax or Carvana – CarMax and Carvana let you do the majority of the legwork from the comfort of your home. Browse online before you head out so you can breeze through, seal the deal, and be on your merry way before the hour is up.
  • Facebook Marketplace – Nowadays, Facebook is for more than stalking high school crushes and updating your status. Many people have started using the new Marketplace feature to sell their used cars at surprisingly low prices. Utilize Facebook’s search tools to narrow down your scope and find something within budget.

#2 Create a Payment Plan

Don’t be alarmed, but many new vehicles cost upwards of $30,000. For the average person, that’s a lot of cold hard cash to have laying around in the bottom of a sock or tucked between the mattress and box spring.

Luckily, you don’t need that much upfront!

The easiest way to finance a new car is by taking out a bank loan. This can be done directly from the dealership in three simple steps:

  • Offer a down payment – To secure the loan, you’ll have to pay an upfront cost of anywhere from 10-50% of the car’s total price—usually a few thousand dollars.
  • Pass a credit check – Banks don’t lend money to just any old geezer who asks for it. You need a good credit score—if you don’t know yours, you can run a free credit check by Credit Karma. Anything above 670 is considered good, but 700+ makes you a prime borrower.
  • Determine loan terms – Negotiations with the lender will determine the specific terms of your loan, including your annual interest rate and monthly payment amount. If you don’t understand all of the financial details, bring someone with you who does—your insurance broker uncle, or friendly next-door neighbor, for example.

#3 Stay Calm

Despite the stress of a big purchase, it’s important to keep a level head during the process. These car salesmen can be quite shark-like—anxiety, to them, is like blood in the water. A few positive affirmations can go a long way, but you might benefit from something a little stronger.

Natural supplements, like high-quality CBD gummies by CBDfx, are a great way to prepare for these high-stakes situations. One or two gummies before you arrive will put you in a much calmer headspace—ready to tackle those sharks head-on.

#4 Take It For a Test Drive

Don’t let flashy exteriors and high-tech gadgets distract you from what really matters—how the car drives (that is, after all, what it’s for). Before you lay down years’ worth of savings, make sure it drives as well as it looks.

Even a quick spin around the block can provide a feel for how the car handles. Test out the acceleration speed, how it brakes, and any fancy dashboard gizmos like a back-up camera and assistive technology. These features are all important when choosing your new ride-or-die (literally).

If you’re purchasing from a private seller, don’t be afraid to request a test drive. If they won’t let you hop behind the wheel before handing over a thick wad of cash, there’s probably something they aren’t telling you. They might be scamming you into buying a lemon—and not the kind you can make lemonade out of, unfortunately.

Drive Away Feeling Satisfied

Buying your first (or any) car is a major decision that you shouldn’t take lightly.

Being prepared, knowing what you want, and asking the right questions are crucial steps toward a successful purchase. After all, the customer is always right. If the dealership doesn’t agree, find a seller that does and take your business there.

With these tips and tricks, you’ll be ready to hit the open road—don’t forget to fill up on gas first!

Top 5 Beginner Advice for New Motorcycle Riders

Getting your first ride on the road can be both a thrilling and exciting experience for you. Ultimately, riding motorcycle is like entering into a whole new world full of excitement and adventure. However, having the right gear and awareness on the road can give you both confidence and an extra set of skills over time.

For new riders who are starting on their own, here are our top 5 pieces of advice that you should take care of in your mind at your initial phase of riding. These pieces of advice will help you get yourself ready for the ride with the perfect set of gears, training, and best and cheap motorcycle insurance.

  1. Take a Motorcycle Training Course

Since you have bought a motorcycle to ride regularly, it’s good practice to invest in Motorcycle Training Course. These courses will take you from scratch to the most advanced level, so you better understand your bike, how it behaves and key road safety.

In addition to this, these courses will also help you learn some life-saving tips and how to use your bike most efficiently. This advanced training will not only make you a good rider but will also help you maintain a strong visible presence.

  1. Choose the Right Gear

Choosing the right gear is as important as choosing the right bike, as this gear will is what will protect you from any severe injuries if something unfortunate happens. So, always follow the rule: ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time. This means, always wear your safety gear for any ride, no matter how short, that’s how you will have a safe ride.

So, before you take your ride, don’t forget to wear your helmet and gloves. These gears will not only protect you but will also make you look cool while riding. So, don’t ever forget to wear your safety gear while riding. Since you are investing a hefty amount in buying your dream bike, don’t forget to take care of your motorcycle security to protect it against any potential motorcycle theft.

  1. Get Used to Your Bike

We know, you have chosen your bike after lots of extensive research. Since your bike is like your partner, you need to have a good understanding of each other. Get used to your bike and understand it’s every function for better performance. When you spend more time on your bike, you will learn more quickly. In this way, you will be able to balance it perfectly on the road and through the bends.

  1. Know Your Limits

The street is wide, you and your motorbike are eager for long ride. While a cross-country excursion appears to be a good thought at this moment, you have to consider your limits. New riders can find long excursions pretty tiring, so it’s smart plan to go on short outings from the start. Later, when you are used to your bike and gained more riding confidence, you are ready to stretch your limit and explore the horizon.

  1. Take it Easy

If you have never learned to ride a motorcycle before, don’t expect to ride perfect from the beginning. You need to learn this art by practicing lots until you get more road riding confidence. So, at the beginning stage, it is advised you find big and safe area away from traffic to practice slow control of your bike. Empty parking lots are the perfect practice place to have shot at practicing U-Turns, figure-of-eights, emergency stops etc. Use these practice sessions to get yourself familiar with every function of your bike and ultimately have safer riding experience on road.

Conclusion

So, hope you find this advice for beginners new to motorcycling helpful. There are lot of factors to consider while riding, but it is recommended to keep the above advice in mind as novice rider. Wish you a safe riding journey. Happy Riding!

Here Are Steps to Start Your Own Mechanic Business in Australia

Starting a car repairing and servicing centre is becoming a lucrative business opportunity. This is especially true for people who are passionate about automobiles and have a good degree of knowledge of all technical aspects related to them. The desire for financial independence is yet another reason why so many people are considering the option to start their own mechanic business. However, it isn’t a piece of cake to do so.

Like starting any other business, starting a car mechanic business demands a high level of business savviness and personal dedication, determination and self-confidence. If you are feeling clueless about how to go about with the process, here’s a step-by-step guide that will help you:

  1. Plan properly

The first step to starting your own mechanic business in Australia is planning, something that’s typical of all business start-ups. Most automobile mechanics plunge into starting their venture out of sheer excitement, without having a proper plan in place. That can lead you to failure later on.

Hence, you should first create a concrete business plan, stating all your objectives and strategies. You will have to have a clear idea about your target customers, budget and expenses and company details, such as a business logo, registered business address and phone number. This will set the foundation for all proceeding steps.

  1. Complete all your paperwork

First comes forming a legal entity, whether a sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, or a corporation, and obtain a business license. Once you register your company, you need to take care of your insurance. Since you will be self-employed, you will have to keep in mind various risks involved in the business.

Any negligence while delivering your auto repairing services can call for legal action from your customers, something that can deplete your financial resources completely. To cover for these hefty expenses, you should consider purchasing public liability insurance. To know more about public liability insurance for self-employed people, check this article. You also need to register your company with tax authorities and open a current account with a trustworthy bank in Australia.

  1. Gather your equipment

An auto-repair company requires a variety of tools and equipment to offer repairing and servicing services. Without having the right tools in place, you will not be able to exceed your customers’ expectations. Delivering sub-standard services will not only cause financial damage to your customers but will also ruin your reputation in the market. To get the right set of tools, you need to get in touch with reliable suppliers.

To set up a successful mechanic business, you need to connect with auto parts suppliers who will be able to provide the necessary tools at the right price. Depending on the kind of cars you will be dealing with, you need to stock up your business with all auto parts to cater to your customers’ needs in the most effective way.

  1. Set up the team

Besides auto-repairing tools and suppliers, you also need people who will be able to operate these tools. Running a mechanic business is certainly not a one-man show. You need to have a team of mechanics who will be able to deliver superior-quality auto-repairing services.

When setting up your team of mechanics, you should consider factors like the size of your business, estimated daily customers, budget and the expertise of the professionals you hire. Make sure you hire mechanics who are well-versed with different technical aspects and have experience dealing with different types of automobiles.

  1. Market your business

Lastly, you need to market your mechanic business for it to pick up well. This is a challenging step because it will require you to be extremely creative. There are thousands of mechanic businesses across different cities of Australia. You will have to set your business apart from them so that customers choose you over them.

To market your mechanic business effectively, you can leverage a mix of traditional and online marketing tools. You have options like business cards, flyers, display signs, online directories and social media, all of which can increase your business’s visibility. Make sure you allocate a part of your business budget to different marketing initiatives so that customers come to you for a service.

Starting your own mechanic business in Australia may seem challenging initially but the above tips will give you clarity on the process. Make sure you follow them to set up a flourishing business.

What You Could Be Exposed to When Working on a Car

Working on a car can be a great way to relax, fix problems, and restore it. There’s no reason you have to pay a professional mechanic when you know what it is that you’re doing. However, you have to know what you’re doing – and you have to be aware of all that you can be exposed to when working.

Did you know that older cars, such as those built in the 1960s and 1970s, may have lead paint? When you see rust and flaking paint, that’s when you really have to worry. If the car has been painted a few times, some of the older, lead-based paint may still be present. You may find it at the points of rust, along with the wheel wells, and in other areas.

The last thing you want to deal with is lead poisoning just because you didn’t realize some of the dangers. When you do have an older car, it’s best to be aware – and call in a professional when it’s necessary.

Did you know that some auto parts may contain asbestos? While many car manufacturers have done away with asbestos-based parts, it is still legal for them to be sold in the United States. Brake components are the ones most likely to contain this kind of material. It’s not too much of an issue unless the parts are old – and if asbestos becomes airborne, you have to worry about the fibers building in your lungs.

The Mesothelioma Cancer Network discusses the resources having to do with lung cancer caused by asbestos. By knowing the dangers, you can take the necessary actions to avoid exposure. And if you have been exposed, you can figure out what you’ll need to do next.

There are other issues that may be present when you work on a car, too. Rust can make it harder to not only paint but also loosen certain components. If you find that you can’t remove a lug nut because of rust, you may find that you have to make cuts – and then weld new components to be able to compensate for anything you may have had to cut away.

Knowing about all of the issues present with a car will make it easier for you to know how to prepare yourself. If the car is older, what was it exposed to in its history? Do you have to worry about mold and mildew in the interior because of water damage? Do you have to worry about exposed wiring or anything because of too many DIY mechanics in the past?

If you are thinking about buying an older car, be sure that it’s fully inspected first. If you already have a car and enjoy tinkering on it, be sure you know how to deal with certain issues – like the presence of lead, asbestos, or bad wiring. If you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s best to hire a professional. There’s no use risking your health just to have a fun hobby or to save a few bucks.

What should I look for when hiring a Gold Coast rental car?

If you are considering hiring a rental car in the Gold Coast, then you need to do your homework so you can find a reliable and affordable provider. Hiring a car is a great way to get around the coast, visiting all the best beaches in your own time and not having to rely on anyone else’s timetable. So if you’re in the mood for your own set of rental wheels, here’s seven top tips that will help you have the time of your life without breaking the bank.

Top tips for the best car rental in the Gold Coast

You could just sign up with the first car rental you come across, but that can result in spending much more than you anticipated and ruin your holiday! The way to get the best deal is to know what to ask and what type of conditions will reduce your costs.

Make sure that your rental car includes unlimited kilometres

There is so much to see and do on the Gold Coast that you need to make sure that your rental contract includes unlimited kilometres. If you don’t do this, then every kilometre over a set limit will cost you money that can add up very quickly. There’s so many great places to visit around the Gold Coast, as well as into NSW and north of Brisbane that it’s a shame if you have to limit your holiday because of the costs. This is particularly relevant if you want to explore further north, south or out west, because Australia is a big country and you will eat up the kilometres very quickly. So always make sure you include unlimited kilometres in your car rental contract.

Limit yourself to just two nominated drivers

Your car rental contract will usually allow you to have two nominated drivers without any additional charges. If you want to nominate more than the two driver limit, then you will need to pay an additional charge. So unless there’s a powerful reason for having more than two nominated drivers, just stick with the two that are included for free with your car rental. In Gold Coast areas, as everywhere else in Australia, don’t try to get around this limit by allowing someone who’s not a nominated driver to take the wheel. That’s because if the provider finds out, they can void your insurance if you have an accident. So it pays to check the Terms and Conditions of your rental and keep it legal!

Consider your pickup and return location

Whilst it might be easier to collect and return your car rental at the Gold Coast airport, you might find that it’s cheaper if you change this location. Each provider will have a list of the locations where cars can be collected and returned, so it pays to compare the costs for each of these locations. You might find that the costs are exactly the same, but you might also find that it’s cheaper at another location. Also ask about collecting and returning at different locations. For example, you might prefer to collect your car rental at the Gold Coast airport and return it at the Brisbane airport before you take an international flight. This may or may not be cheaper than collecting and returning your vehicle to the same location.

Fill up the tank before returning the car rental

Most providers will give you a rental with a full tank, expecting you to return it with a full tank. In fact, this is usually included in the Terms and Conditions, so make sure you look for this clause before signing the contract. If you don’t return the vehicle with a full tank when it’s included in the contract, it’s likely that you will be charged for a full tank of premium fuel, even if it’s half full.

Read the insurance cover of the car rental

Insurance cover can vary greatly between providers, so you need to read their policy so you know exactly what is and isn’t covered. Most companies will include a Collision Damage Waiver in the cost of the rental, but this isn’t a full comprehensive insurance. It’s just a basic insurance that limits the excess amount payable by you if you have an accident. This is usually $4000 to $5000, which means that you won’t pay more than this if you have an accident in the vehicle.

Some providers will ask if you want to reduce this excess by increasing the cost of the car rental, so it’s a good idea to check if the car rental insurance is covered by your credit card or travel insurance first. If this isn’t the case, then you might consider taking out third party insurance from an insurance provider instead. This is an important point, because if you do have an accident and your rental provider charges you this excess, you can claim it back from your third party insurance policy.

Consider booking your car rental in advance

Given that there are seasonal fluctuations in car rental prices on the Gold Coast, it pays to shop around. This is best done before you leave for your holiday, because then you can spend your time comparing prices and policies. Some companies will also have limited time deals, for example you might be able to get five days for the price of a three day hire. If you can catch these deals before you leave for the airport, you can often save yourself a considerable amount of money! Most providers will also allow you to cancel the car hire with no penalties if you do it at least 48 hours before the collection time, giving you sufficient time to change your mind if needed.

Make sure there’s no hidden charges

All charges will be in the Terms and Conditions, so you really must read these to ensure that you don’t miss any of these so called ‘hidden charges’. They are not really hidden, it’s just that if you don’t read the Terms and Conditions and the provider doesn’t draw your attention to them, you might be unhappily surprised at some point. The type of charges that can escape your notice include a young driver surcharge for drivers under 25 years of age. Then there’s the possibility of a relocation surcharge if you collect and return the vehicle at different locations. Finally, there are optional extras that can include fees for a GPS unit, baby capsule and a booster seat. So always ask about these additional charges and read the Terms and Conditions.

With these seven tips, you should have no problems finding the right budget friendly, quality car rental for your next holiday on the Gold Coast.

7 Maintenance Tips for Diesel Engines

Diesel engines are the workhorses of the automotive world. To keep these engines running efficiently, you need to perform regular maintenance. Here are seven tips for maintaining your diesel engine.

1. Change Your Fuel Filter

Your AirDog fuel filter should be changed about once every 10-15 thousand miles. If you have a newer engine, there may be a primary and a secondary filter. These will need to be changed periodically.

2. Check and Flush Your Coolant

Coolant can become acidic as it ages, causing parts, such as the radiator to rot. You should have the acidity levels of the coolant checked regularly and have the system flushed and the coolant replaced when the acidity levels become too high.

3. Inspect and Replace Air Filters

Air filters can be inspected without removing them from the engine. When they become clogged or overly dirty, they should be removed and replaced. If you are regularly driving in a harsh environment, your filter may need to be replaced more often.

4. Clean Your Engine Regularly

Excessive build-up of dirt and debris can severely damage your engine and shorten its road-life. It is particularly important to keep the engine oil, fuel and air clean. Storing and handling your fuel properly can help prevent the fuel from becoming contaminated with dirt and debris that can damage your engine. An engine that runs irregularly, misses or puffs black smoke may need to be cleaned.

5. Change the Oil

You should change the oil about once every 5 thousand miles. However, if you are working your engine hard, you may need to change it more frequently.

6. Avoid Water in the Fuel System

Even a small amount of water in the fuel system can cause your engine to miss and larger amounts can stop the engine completely. Water can enter the system with the fuel or from condensation. Any water in the system should be drained daily.

7. Keep Air Out of the Fuel System

Trapped air can cause the engine to be difficult to start. Air may get in the system through loose joints in the piping or spray nozzles that do not close properly. Air can also get in the system if you completely run the tank dry. Remove the air by bleeding the system.

Regular maintenance is essential for extending the life of your diesel engine and keeping it functioning efficiently. Consider adding these maintenance tips to your regular maintenance schedule.

Using a Demand Letter To Receive Compensation

If you’ve been injured, another party may be responsible for handling financial burdens incurred. You can go about this several ways, but one noteworthy tool at your disposal is a demand letter. While these letters won’t guarantee you’ll receive compensation, here are some tips and things to know about them.

Tip: Get Professional Help

A lawyer will know how to write a demand letter, and this matters because if you just wing it, you may end up saying something that could negatively affect your case. A lawyer can help you organize the information in a way that best presents your case, and they will help you keep out unnecessary information. The reason insurance companies recommend you don’t admit fault in an accident, even if you really do think it may have been your fault, is because there are so many different factors to be considered, and you may not actually be the party responsible. This is the same reason you want to have a lawyer help — you may say inadvertently add a detail or say something that completely ruins your case, even if your case is completely justified. Play it safe and don’t write a demand latter yourself.

Demand Letters Can’t Guarantee Results

It’s important for people to know that a demand letter is not a legally-binding document — in fact, one of the best things about demand letters is they can help you avoid the legal system. Ideally, you and the other party can sort the affair out between yourselves. By avoiding taking this through the legal system, you’ll save on costly legal fees, not to mention all the other paperwork and time that would be required. In fact, it doesn’t hurt to use that information to encourage the other party to get this sorted out as quickly as possible.

Letters Can Start a Dialogue

A hidden value of a demand letter is that it obviously won’t be sent and received at the time of the incident or even immediately after — the reason this matters is because it provides time for everyone involved to cool down and think more clearly about the event. The tone of your letter can make all the difference: be direct, but not harsh. Help those you are seeking compensation from understand why they should be held accountable for the amount you are expecting. Provide accurate information and help them understand you’re not just money-grabbing; that they really do hold a responsibility in the matter.

Tip: Letters Let Them Know You’re Serious

Receiving a letter — even if it’s not legally binding — may light a fire under those responsible to get you taken care of. It’s easy to brush off a one-time discussion or phone call, but if you send a letter, they’ll know you’re not fooling around. Providing a deadline for them can also drive the point home.

By providing a firm and factual demand letter, you may increase your chances of being compensated. Even if the letter doesn’t achieve the immediate results you’re hoping for, it can be used later on as evidence should you end up in court.

Think Safety First

Emotions run high and an overwhelming sense of panic can take over after an accident. As best you can, allow yourself to calm down and think safety first. Don’t try to settle or solve anything right at that moment. If the accident is on the minor side, have the cars move over out of traffic. The best way to discuss the situation is in a safe place.

While emotions tend to run high and it can be easy to forget the simplest things. Remember to turn your hazard lights on, and shift into park. Lastly, before beginning any conversations turn off your vehicle! Yes, believe it or not, people often forget to do that in the midst of an accident.

Work on Getting Help

Once you have your car situated and in a safe place, it is time to measure any injuries at hand. If injuries are suspected, don’t move the injured, or try to treat anything. The best thing to do is to establish help by calling for an ambulance and police.  It is always best to have the police on the scene even if it is a minor accident. They can be a good third-party middleman, and provide a police report which is very important to a more successful claim process.

 Avidly Collect Information

Even in a minor accident, it could be easy to forget what information to collect. In fact, it’s a smart idea to create a checklist of what information to ask for and leave it in your car. The obvious pieces of information of course are always the names of the drivers and the passengers, including their contact information.

If possible, remember to gather the information on all of the eyewitnesses. Take note of the accident location. If possible gather the address of the accident. Swiftly take photos of the cars, and the damage done. Then with those photos, include a written vehicle description which would be the year, make, and model.

A common thing to forget is the police officer’s names and their badge number. This is helpful to have in the event that you might have to contact them for clarification. Time to file a claim be sure to gather the insurance company information, and policy numbers.

Reach Out to Roadside Assistance

If your car is undrivable or you are not sure of its ability, then you might want to call for roadside assistance. This service can also be tied to your insurance company depending upon your policy.

An auto accident can have life-altering consequences. In addition, the process of figuring out how to handle an accident can be an all-consuming affair. Complications between insurance companies and those involved can seem unending. An auto accident attorney in Fort Collins can be a huge weight off your shoulders, as they do all the heavy lifting.
