The Canadian government  announced a C$100,000 spend with Nova Scotia Power to install 20 electric vehicle (EV) chargers at the utility’s facilities across the province.

Nova Scotia Power is contributing $134,000 to the initiative which has a total project cost of $234,969. Funded through a Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, all chargers will be available for use by autumn 2022.

Canada has spent $1bn so far to make EVs more affordable and charging infrastructure more accessible. This led to a coast-to-coast network of fast chargers and installations in more remote areas. The government also provides incentives of up to $5,000 to help EV buyers plus full tax write-offs for businesses purchasing them.

Canada has a mandatory target of full zero-emission light-duty vehicle sales by 2035.
