BSA Gold Star 650 price, India launch, engine details

Unlike last time, the bike has been spotted with the company’s badge on it.

The BSA Gold Star neo-retro roadster has been spotted testing in India yet again, but this time around, two bikes were spotted – one in the Insignia Red colour and one in the range-topping Legacy edition ‘Silver Sheen’ colour scheme.

BSA Gold Star spotted testing in India: details

Unlike most of the test mules that have been spied intermittently in India over the course of last year, the bikes, this time around, bear the BSA logo and the Gold Star badge. The BSA Gold Star is powered by a 652cc, four-valve, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that puts out 45hp and 55Nm of torque. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It gets discs at either end with dual-channel ABS.

BSA falls under the umbrella of Mahindra’s Classic Legends group, which also brought back the Jawa and Yezdi brands. Like the Jawas and Yezdis, the BSA Gold Star is currently made in India and hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the motorcycle has been spotted testing here.

However, even though it’s been seen on Indian soil, the Gold Star launch in the country isn’t likely to take place anytime soon. This is due to the fact that Classic Legends doesn’t own the rights to the BSA name in India and, therefore, cannot sell the motorcycle here badged as a BSA.

If the Gold Star came to India, would you pick it over the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650? Let us know in the comments below.
