Bajaj Triumph bike spotted in in India, accessories revealed

The bike appears production-ready and seems to be equipped with some optional accessories.

One of the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The bike appears to be production -ready, and seems to be sporting some optional accessories.

Upcoming Bajaj-Triumph bike: details

The upcoming motorcycles from the Bajaj-Triumph partnership have been spotted testing overseas a number of times before, but now, for the first time, a test mule has been seen in India. This was to be expected, since the bikes will be manufactured by Bajaj here in India, and sold in our market as well.

The fundamentals of the bike appear to have remained unchanged, indicating that most mechanicals are in place, and the motorcycle is in the fine-tuning phase. Among the evidence of said fine-tuning are small changes to the exhaust system, compared to when the bike was last spotted.

The heat shields feature slightly different designs, and the exhaust exit also appears to be different, though it continues with the double-barrel layout. The design of the side panels has also been subtly tweaked, with the right-side panel now featuring three small circular cut-outs that weren’t present in the previous images.

What’s also clear is that the two companies are concurrently developing a lineup of accessories with the upcoming motorcycles, a number of which are being tested on this particular bike. The most visible optional extras are the front windscreen and the handguards. This particular test mule features conventional mirrors, since it is fitted with hand guards and cannot accommodate bar-end mirrors. These are the mirrors that are likely to be sold as standard, with the motorcycle. The previous sighting, however, showed bar-end mirrors, that are likely to be offered as accessories.

Upcoming Bajaj-Triumph bike: design

One of the more subtle extras on this test mule are the tank pads in the knee recesses, which look extremely similar to those you’d find on a Triumph Bonneville.

In fact, this motorcycle as a whole, bears more than a passing resemblance to the Bonneville lineup in general, and the Street Twin in particular. The overall proportions and stance are very alike, as is the design language, with the round headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and slightly stepped seat. Even more intricate touches like the offset fuel-filler cap have been carried over from the ‘Twin.

Upcoming Bajaj-Triumph bike: engine

One thing that won’t resemble the Bonnies, though, is the engine, with these upcoming entry-level bikes set to receive a large-capacity single, unlike the parallel-twins on the Bonnevilles. Going by the size of the block and the radiator, we could be looking at something upwards of the 350cc mark.

Upcoming Bajaj-Triumph bike: expected launch date

This roadster-style motorcycle is one of two bikes that Bajaj and Triumph are known to be working on, with the other one being a scrambler that was spied a while ago, but hasn’t been seen since. Going by how ready this roadster looks, you can expect an official unveil sometime towards the end of this year, perhaps at EICMA in November. Stay tuned for more details.
