Bajaj Pulsar, Bajaj Pulsar NS400 launch, fresh details

0

Pulsar NS400 will use the 373cc engine from the Dominar 400, KTM RC 390 and 390 Adventure.

We were the first to report that Bajaj is working on the Pulsar NS400 – the biggest Pulsar ever – last year and now we can confirm that the bike will be launched on May 3.

  1. Older but still potent 373cc engine will be used here
  2. Will likely get LCD dash and updated NS family styling

Bajaj Pulsar NS400: what we know so far

The Bajaj Dominar 400, KTM RC 390 and 390 Adventure still use the older 373cc single-cylinder engine which makes anywhere between 40hp – 43.5hp depending on the bike it finds itself powering. It remains to be seen if the NS400 makes the same amount of power as the Dominar (40hp) or whether it makes the full-fat 43.5hp (like the KTMs). The NS400 will continue with the same 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch but it remains to be seen if a quickshifter will be offered.

The new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will probably use the perimeter chassis from the NS200, which has always been capable of handling more power than the 200’s 25hp. The chassis will likely be strengthened and adapted for duty with the bigger 373cc engine. This will have a positive impact on weight and the new Pulsar NS400 will likely weigh less than the 193kg Dominar.

Design wise, it remains to be seen how many changes will be made, but it is safe to expect a similar look to the existing NS family, which recently got a refresh. We expect the USD fork and the LCD dash with Bluetooth connectivity to continue

We expect that the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will be positioned below the Dominar 400, which currently costs Rs 2.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). That will make it the most affordable of the 40hp, (approx.) 400cc bikes on sale in India.
