WayRay teams with AGP eGlass for HUDs

WayRay has partnered with AGP eGlass to drive HUDs which will project relevant data into a driver’s field of vision.

AGP eGlass has designed a new glazing technology to host WayRay’s Holographic Optical Elements (HOEs) in their windscreens, which are capable of performing complex optical functions while remaining transparent and thin, to be incorporated into curved laminated glass parts.

WayRay maintains the Holographic AR НUD for cars surpasses conventional HUD in its projection system volume, field of view and distance to the virtual image from zero metres to infinity.

The display can be customised to meet integration requirements of any car model. AGP eGlass and WayRay have developed a glazing stack supported by a manufacturing process; starting from the raw material until lamination, hologram application and final inspection, which has been designed and adapted since the beginning to the hologram technology’s specifications, fulfilling legal requirements.

The Holographic AR HUD has been designed for both drivers and passengers by bringing augmented reality to windscreens, turning the glass into a ‘virtual world’ for driver assistance, passenger safety and infotainment.

WayRay notes the HUD industry was valued at US$866m in 2020 and is projected to reach US$3.37bn by 2025.

“Forging this partnership with AGP, the most innovative and forward-looking glazing company in the automotive industry, will bring WayRay’s ground-breaking True Augmented Reality into cars in 2023 and create windows into virtual worlds for drivers and passengers,” said WayRay founder and CEO, Vitaly Ponomarev.

For his part, AGP Group CEO, Arturo Mannheim, added: “AGP’s mission is to expand the boundaries of conventional glass products by offering smart technologies to enable electric and autonomous mobility, enhance connectivity and transform the user experience.”
