Volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition launched: price, specs, features, and colours

At no premium over the regular SUV, the Exclusive Edition gets a few cosmetic exterior and interior updates.

Volkswagen has launched a new Exclusive Edition of the Tiguan mid-size SUV. Priced at Rs 33.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition only gets a few cosmetic updates over the regular SUV, but remains mechanically unchanged.

  • Tiguan Exclusive Edition gets sportier looking 18-inch wheels
  • Available in Pure white and Oryx white exterior colours
  • Powered by a 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI with 7-speed DSG gearbox

Volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition: what’s new?

The cosmetic updates on the Tiguan Exclusive Edition are rather few, with the biggest highlight being a set of new 18-inch twin five-spoke alloy wheels that look a lot sportier than the standard 18-inchers offered with the regular SUV. It also gets new dynamic hubcaps for the wheels and a new load sill protection at the rear. There’s also new Exclusive Edition badging on the B-pillar and it comes in two exterior colour options – Pure White and Oryx White.

On the inside, the Tiguan Exclusive Edition gets new aluminium foot pedals and more Exclusive Edition badging. There are, however, no other changes to the trim, upholstery or to the equipment list.

Volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition: powertrain, features

Under the hood, the Tiguan Exclusive Edition continues with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 190hp and 320Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending drive to all four wheels via an AWD system. The Tiguan has an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 12.65 kpl.

As for features, the Tiguan Exclusive Edition continues with LED matrix headlights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with gesture control, illuminated scuff plates, leather seats, ambient lighting, a three-zone climate control system and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, hill start assist and hill descent control.

Volkswagen Tiguan: rivals

The Tiguan Exclusive Edition does not carry any price premium over the regular SUV, and as before, continues to rival the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the Citroen C5 Aircross.
